                                                  OBITUARY NOTICE
Fitchburg:  George J. Guilmette, 96 of Fitchburg, MA. passed away peacefully  Wednesday September 13, 2017 in Gardner Rehab & Nursing Center, Gardner, MA. his loving family was at his side.
He was born January 20, 1921 in Fitchburg, MA. son of Alfred and Malvina (Croteau) Guilmette and he lived all of  his life in Fitchburg.
He attended and graduated from Fitchburg High School  Class of 1939. After high school George enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Medic during WW2. He served in Northern France and the Rhineland. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
George worked as a machine operator at the former General Electric Co. in Fitchburg for 20 years, and worked as the service manager at the former Delongchamp Cadillac for 20 years. He retired in 1984.
George was an avid woodworker and golfer. He was a member of Gardner Municipal Golf Course for many years. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Fitchburg, MA. all of his life.
He is survived by his children, son David G. Guilmette and wife Cynthia of Ashby, MA. daughters, Denise M Barbero and husband James of Lunenburg, MA. and Janet L. Brousseau and husband Gary of East Templeton, MA., grandchildren, Jason, Jaime, Lauren, Lindsey, and Ashley, great grandchildren, Mia, Grace, Audrey, Alexis, Alexander, Connor, Drew, and Samuel. He also leaves several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Marie (Bedard) Guilmette in 2003, and two brothers and two sisters.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday September 19,2017 with Mass at 11a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church , 81 Sheridan St. Fitchburg. Interment with Military Honors  will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery , Leominster, MA. . A Calling hour will be  on Tuesday morning at the funeral home from  9:15 until 10:30 a.m.
