Ann B. Descoteaux, 68, of Fitchburg passed away on February 18, 2024 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA, surrounded by her family after an unrelenting, courageous battle with melanoma. Ann was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Beverly A. Wright of Reading, MA.
She was a graduate of Saint Michael’s College with a degree in Fine Arts and English. She started her career as a graphic artist with the New England District of the Army Corps of Engineers advancing to become the supervisor of the Audio-Visual Section. After raising her family, Ann embarked on a second career as the Director of Docents at the Fitchburg Art Museum.
Ann was very artistic and enjoyed travel, photography, writing poetry, and painting, particularly water colors. While at her family’s lakeside cottage in Wayne, Maine, she was immersed in nature’s beauty. Most importantly, she was a trusted and compassionate woman who made numerous friends and touched so many lives throughout her journey.
She was a member of the Laurelwood Garden Club, Louise Brogan Poetry Chapter, and Saint Anthony of Padua Parish.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-six years David R. Descoteaux; three sons, Mark (and Alicia) Descoteaux, Michael (and Brooke) Descoteaux, and James Descoteaux; three siblings, Patricia Wright-Etchings, Ellen (and James) Mich, and Matthew (and Mary Jane) Wright; a grandson, Andrew Descoteaux; her brother-in-law, Stephen Descoteaux; and seven nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge the expertise and care of the entire staff at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center where Ann received treatment.
A Funeral Mass for Ann will be celebrated on Saturday, February 24,2024 @ 9:30a.m. in St. Anthony De Padua Church, 84 Salem St. Fitchburg, MA. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the funeral home from 4 until 7p.m. All relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
