FITCHBURG- Beverly A. (Wazal) Maranda, 91, of Fitchburg passed away peacefully on February 24th with her beloved family by her side. Beverly was born in Fitchburg on September 24, 1932 the daughter of the late William and Irene (Morin) Wazal.
9/24/32 – 2/24/24: Life’s all about the DASH. To say that Beverly, Mom, Grammy, Aunt Bev, Mrs. M, Commander Maranda filled the Dash to it’s fullest would be an understatement. Her unconditional and selfless acts of love and kindness will live on in all who knew her.
Beverly had many paid and volunteer roles throughout her long life but the one she cherished most was the time she spent walking the hallowed halls of Fitchburg High where she spent decades loving and guiding every student who crossed her path.
Beverly was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and mentor to many and will be greatly missed but certainly not forgotten.
In her later years nothing brought Beverly greater joy than to spend time with her beloved granddaughter Grace and all her friends whom she also loved dearly.
She leaves her daughters, Melissa Maranda and her husband Richard Gosselin of Fitchburg and Gail Peck of Newport, NH., Sister, Janice (Wazal) and her husband Charles Prebble of Hoosick Falls, NY, Granddaughter, Grace Gosselin of Fitchburg and student at St. Bernard’s H.S., her adopted Grandchildren, Amanda Peck, Ethan Peck and Caitlin (Peck) Taifehesmatian as well as many nieces, nephews and also her dearest friends Carol Remse and Pauline Johnson.
Beverly was predeceased by her husband Joseph L. Maranda, her brothers, Wallace Wazal, Thomas Wazal ,and Robert Wazal and her sister Barbara (Wazal) Carney and her best friend and cousin Marie Morin.
The funeral will be held from The Lavery Chartrand Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer Street, Fitchburg on Monday, March 4,2024 with a Mass celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 63 Sheridan Street, Fitchburg at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA. Calling Hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 3,2024 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maranda-Gosselin Charitable Fund c/o The Community Foundation of NCM, 649 John Fitch Highway, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Donations will go to Benefit the many charities near and dear to Beverly.
