Carol Posco Obituary

Carol Ann (Richard) Posco, 77, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully in Leominster Hospital surrounded by family on Thursday February 15, 2024. A loving, strong willed, humorous, and devoted woman, Carol left an enduring mark on everyone who knew her.

Carol was born on August 3, 1946 to the late Alfred and Lillian (Psarocosta) Richard in Fitchburg, MA. Carol graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1964. Afterwards, she was a longtime employee at Depot Distributors and retired as an Administrative Assistant from Mariner Health Care. Carol was a brilliant, strong, single mother of four boys, Bruce, Scott, Brian and Michael.

Where Carol really shined was in her home life. Being raised in a family of nine siblings, Carol had to learn how to find her voice, and she sure found it. Everyone knew how Carol felt about any given subject and was not shy to share her feelings. A strong family bond was created with her parents and siblings. Those strong bonds were carried on when she had her own children. Carol was the matriarch of her family who provided guidance and insight to anyone who sought it. She had a legendary wit and humor and loved spreading her personality all over. Carol was selfless above all else and would rather deprive herself of something than to see a family member go without. Carol possessed the immeasurable quality of making others feel as if they were the most important person in her life.

Carol spent much of her time in Winchendon, MA on beautiful Lake Monomonac. Her family built a quaint home, simply known as “The Camp”, which was the place for countless treasured memories. She was also quite the sports enthusiast, supporting her New England teams in football, baseball, basketball, and hockey. Trips to Foxwoods and playing bingo were always a favorite. Her story telling was unmatched. Her most cherished pastime was caring for her grandchildren and supporting her great grandchildren. Carol loved all her family and always put them above anything else. Even in her final hours she refused to place any worry or burden on her family.

Carol was predeceased by her siblings Elizabeth Richard, Paul Richard, Loretta Henderson and her son, Brian Posco (Shawna; living). She is survived by her siblings Linda Leblanc (Edgar), Stephen Richard (Janice), Matthew Richard, Rhonda Richard, Bruce Richard (Judi), and Douglas Richard (Donna). Her children Bruce Posco (Kelley), Scott Posco (Charlene), Michael Posco (Susan). Her grandchildren Nichole Cetrano (Timothy), Samantha Posco-Wheeler (Eric), Zachary Posco, Kayln Posco, Dawson Posco, and Devon Posco. Her great grandchildren LeeAnn and Lauren Cetrano, Jadalynn, Micah, and Harvey Posco. As well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Private services will be held at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery on Friday March 1st. In lieu of flowers the family requests prayers and well wishes for the inspired life of Carol Posco.
