Norman G. “Pin” Bernard, 87, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024 at the Life Care Center of Leominster surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born in Leominster in 1937, the son of the late Gerard and Rose (Progin) Bernard.
He was known by all as “Pin” and was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a machinist at Simonds Saw & Steel in Fitchburg for 40 years, retiring in 2002. He had a passion for repairing cars for family and friends and was proud of the work he did restoring Kiddie-Land antique amusement cars and trains for the Roger Williams Parkin Providence Rhode Island. He enjoyed vacationing with his family traveling in the “bus” as well as traveling across country in his motorhome. He enjoyed spending time in Maine where he was the Park Manager at the Wells-Moody Campground Condominium from 2002 – 2003.
He leaves his wife of sixty-two years, Virginia (Clay) Bernard; his children, James Bernard and his wife Ann of Ashburnham, Julie DelleChiaie and her husband Mark of Leominster, five grandchildren, Megan Bernard, Jonathan Bernard, Andrew Bernard, Tyler DelleChiaie and his wife Kimberly and Gianna DelleChiaie, two great-granddaughters, Isabella DelleChiaie and Francesca DelleChiaie and a brother Alfred Bernard and his wife Mary of Cranston, RI as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services for Norman will be private at the request of his family.
