Gloria R. (DiNinno) Carlberg, 92, of Fitchburg passed peacefully into Heaven on Wednesday December 12, 2018.
Gloria was born on June 10, 1926 to the late Michael and Bridget (DiGeronimo) DiNinno and grew up in Fitchburg with her six siblings, all of whom were very close-knit. She graduated from Fitchburg High School and then worked as a bookkeeper at Belliveau Furniture, followed by 28 years as a business administrator at William S. Reagan and Co. until retirement. With her deep faith in God, she was a life-long member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fitchburg. She was also a member of the Senior Boosters.
Gloria was a beloved Mom, Nana, Gigi, aunt, cousin, and friend to all who knew her. Raising her three children, loving her grandchildren, and embracing her great-grand daughters were her greatest accomplishments. Always the one to listen and offer gentle wisdom, encouragement, and prayers, Gloria shared her quiet strength and perseverance to whomever needed her comfort and companionship. She loved to spend time with her family, hear everyone’s stories and latest news, dance and attend parties, and play cards with her life-long friends at their homes and then at the St. Francis Senior Center Card Club. She enjoyed momentous trips to Hawaii, Italy, and Florida as well as trips with family to Maine.
Gloria is predeceased by her parents, her siblings Lucy DiNinno, Nick DiNinno, Anna Erickson, Anthony DiNinno, Rose DiNinno, and Rachel Spadafore, as well as her former husband Lawrence U. Carlberg who died 1978. She is also predeceased by her special companion, Raymond Thibeadeau, whom she met during her golden years. Gloria is now watching over her beloved family, including her three children: Sandy Irvin and her husband, Dan; Michael Carlberg and his wife, Peg; and Robert Carlberg and his wife, Judy. Her grandchildren are Kristina and her husband, Marc; Matthew and his wife Ashley; James and his wife Brittany; Joseph, Allyssa, and Kimberly, as well as two precious great grand-daughters, Lyla and Celia. She leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and their families, cousins, and friends.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 17,2018 with a Mass @ 11a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church 84 Salem St. Fitchburg, MA. Interment will be at a later date. Calling Hours at the funeral home are Sunday, December 16,2018 from 5 until 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
