OBITUARY NOTICE :   Fitchburg:  Joseph  A. Valliere Sr. . 68 of Fitchburg, MA. passed away in University of Mass Medical Center, Worcester, MA. Tuesday April4,2017 surrounded by his family.
He was born June 12, 1948 in Fitchburg the son of Harold and Beatrice (Leger) and lived all of his life in Fitchburg. In 1967 Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years in Vietnam  during the Vietnam War . He was honorably discharged in 1973.
Joe worked for the Department of Public Works for the City of Fitchburg over 30 years , retiring several years ago.
Joe was  a very hard working man, known to help others before himself. He had a unique way of showing his family and friends how much he cared and loved them.
Sunday mornings he really enjoyed visiting his grandson with a box of munchkins and coffee. Together they would sit on the porch laughing and playing cowboys.
He really enjoyed fishing and hunting , but most of all he liked caring for his gardens and sunflowers and taking rides  on country roads with his close friends.
He is survived by his son Joseph A. Valliere Jr. and wife Kimberly of Winchendon, MA., brothers, Larry and wife Doreen Valliere of Fitchburg, MA., and Donald Valliere of Leominster, MA., grandchildren Jeffrey and Kenneth Valliere, his companion  Kathy Bryce , her son Jeremy and her grandson who knew him as “Grumpy”, his  Godchild  Terri Eggleston and her family, several nephews ,nieces and cousins and was expecting his first great granddaughter Aurora Ann Valliere. in June. He was predeceased by his brother Harold R. Valliere.
A funeral service with Military Honors will be held on Friday April 14, 2017 @ 12noon in Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon, MA. Calling hours will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 5 until 7p.m.
