OBITUARY NOTICE
Fitchburg: Le Roy E. “Butch” Clark 79 of Fitchburg, MA. passed away Monday January 15,2018 in University of Mass Medical Center, Worcester, MA. with his family at his side.
He was born January 24,1938 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont , son of Adrian M. and Virginia (Launderville) Clark. He lived most of his life in Fitchburg.
He was a graduate of Palmer High School Class of 1957 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education-Industrial Arts from Fitchburg State College in 1961, and Masters of Science in Education-Industrial Education in 1972.
Butch was a teacher and administrator for the Fitchburg Public School System, retiring after 25 years in 1982. He also taught at several other area schools throughout his career and continued to teach even after his retirement. Most of his career in Fitchburg was served asan Industrial Arts Teacher at Memorial Junior HighSchool and as the Program Manager for Adult and Occupational Education.
Always striving to improve teaching methods, Butch created Project TERM, an in-school alternative program for disadvantaged and at risk high school students.He also worked as a private educational consultant,and served for over 20 years on the School Committee for Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School.
A licensed contractor, Butch also worked with his sons between retirements as owner of L.E. Clark & Sons General Contracting for several years before returning to teaching.
Butch enjoyed spending time withfamily and friends, especially at his York Beach summer home, which he built himself with the help of those same family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Jeanne C. (Paquette) Clark, his sons, Thomas R. Clark and wife Cynthia of Fitchburg, MA., Matthew E. Clark and wife Amy of Des Moines, Iowa, his daughter Sarah J. Clark of Fitchburg, MA., one sister, Dorothy Bachand of Palmer, MA., four grandchildren, Spenser, Christopher, Jamie and Sophia along with many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Friday, January 26,2018 with a Mass at 10a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church 1400 Main St. Leominster, MA. . All friends and relatives are welcome to attend and should meet at the church. Interment will be at a later date. There are no calling hours.
