William K Hood
William K Hood, aged 85, passed away on February 3.
Devoted father of Billy Hood, Patricia Hood David and her husband
George, David Wayne Hood and his wife Ellen, Michelle Hood Hammond
and her husband Jheff, and Jennifer Hood Salisbury and her husband Jeff.
Loving grandfather to Sean David, Michael Hood and his wife Callie, Peter
Hood, Libby David, Nicholas Hood and his wife Stephanie, Ryan
Hammond, William Hammond, and Devin Hammond. He is also survived
by his partner and longtime companion of 20 years, Evelyn Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Joan Wight Hood, the
mother of his 5 children.
William was born on a farm in West Chester, PA, the youngest of 5
children. He was adored by his siblings and lived for many years after
their far too young passing in life. He attended George School in
Newtown, PA, and upon graduation entered the USAF during the Korean
War, stationed in England. It was there that he met his 1st wife, Joan.
They married and returned to the United States to raise a family. Bill was a
pioneer in the plastics industry devoting his entire career to the
manufacturing of injection molded plastics. Starting out at DuPont
Plastics in DE, he later fulfilled one of his lifetime ambitions of starting his
own injection molding plastics company, Accutech Plastics, with 3 former
close co-workers.
After retiring Bill moved from Massachusetts to Myrtle Beach to enjoy the
warmer weather and golf. It is there that he met Evelyn and they spent
many happy years together; cruising and visiting family.
Through his easy going nature and kindness to others he was immediately
liked by all. There is sadness in us all as we say goodbye. He will be
greatly missed and was truly an anchor in the family and always took joy in
being with his family. Services will be held at Lavery Chartrand Alario
Funeral Home, 99 Summer St, Fitchburg, MA on Thursday February 7,2019 @ 4p.m. A calling hour will be held prior to services from 3 until 4p.m.
