Obituary

Albert Richard Rubin, of Phillipston, passed away on January 22, 2023.

Born in Massachusetts on September 17, 1943, he was the youngest child of the late Nathan and Ann Rubin. Al grew up between Brookline and Nabnasset (Westford) and spoke of Nab fondly. He settled to raise his family in Phillipston where he resided the past 44 years.

Al worked in manufacturing his entire career, but some of his favorite times were with a rod and reel out in one of the areas many fishing holes. He could be seen taking walks on the trails in Lake Dennison or in the Quabbin Reservoir and enjoyed metal detecting for many years. Al had a great sense of humor and could tell a joke like no other. It was a joy to watch him sitting around a table with his older brothers tossing out bad joke after bad joke in an attempt to one up each other in laughter. He had a slew of great friends, and he would give the shirt off his back for just about anyone, even if it was his last shirt. He married his late wife Jean in 1967 and enjoyed 53 years of marriage before her passing in 2020, they were a true testament to the commitment of marriage.

Al is survived by his children, two sons, Michael R. Rubin and his wife, Jean (Losh) of Phillipston; Christopher A. Rubin, and his wife, Hiedi (Pervier) of Athol; his daughter, Kelly J. Brown and her husband, Gregory of Petersham; twelve grandchildren, Richard, Teresa,Elizabeth, Dominic, Juliette, Eleanore, Christian, Emily, Joseph D., Joshua, Joseph L., and Summer; four great-grandchildren; Kylie, Khloe, Skylar, and Lukas. As well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by two brothers, Harry T. Rubin, Sr., of Fort Myers FL, and Arthur Jack Rubin of Hudson, NH, and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents; stepmother,Harriet; his wife, Jean E. (Johnson) Rubin;his brothers, Robert and Larry; and sisters, Judy, Joan, Jean, Carol, and Irma.
