                                             OBITUARY  NOTICE

Fitchburg: Alexander R. Ponusky, 82 of Fitchburg, MA passed away peacefully Thursday February 6,2020  in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home Gardener, MA.

He was born June 21,1937 the son of Alexander M. and Pauline (Croteau) Ponusky and lived all of his life in Fitchburg, MA.  He was a graduate of St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School Class of 1956. He then enlisted in U.S. Air Force and served  during the Korean War Era and was honorably discharged.

Alex served on the City of Fitchburg Fire Department for 40 years retiring in 1992. He then worked as a bus driver for the former F & L bus Company  fro several years .Alex , along with his wife Beverly enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas. He was a real history buff and an avid reader. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly A. (Meyers) Ponusky, his children,Alexander R. Ponusky Jr. and wife Angela of Leominster, MA, Mark A. Ponusky and wife Julie of Leominster, MA, Elaine M. Creedon and husband Michael of Gardener, MA, Beverly A. Rife and husband Paul of Leominster, MA, and Amy L. Batchelder of Athol, MA, two brothers, John Ponusky of Fitchburg, MA and Robert Ponusky  of Indian Lake , New York , sisters, Donna Squires of South Dakota, Sandra Murphy of Fitchburg, MA and linda Baumhofer of Martha’s Vinyard, 13 grandchildren , 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday,, February 12,2020 with a Mass @ 10a.m. in St. Bernard Parish @ St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St. Fitchburg, MA . Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA. All friend and relatives  are welcome to attend and should meet at church on Wednesday. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to : Alzsheimers Association of Massachusetts, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA, 02452.
