Bruce Armstrong Obituary

Bruce Duane Armstrong, 73, lifelong resident of Fitchburg, passed away January 14, 2026 at his home following a period of declining health. Bruce was born in Fitchburg on May 18, 1952, son of Duane and Betty (Woods) Armstrong. Bruce graduated from Fitchburg High School with the Class of 1970. In his youth, he was an active member of DeMolay, a commitment to civic service he shared with his father. He was a lifelong enthusiast of cars, trucks, and trains. Bruce was a proud charter member of the Brockway Truck Preservation Association, and an active participant in various antique car clubs including Ty Rods and the Falcon Club of America. A kind soul and animal lover, Bruce will be remembered for his quiet devotion to his friends, his family, and his compassion for every critter that crossed his path.

He is survived by his niece Deborah Linder of Shrewsbury. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Donna VanHillo.

Services under the direction of Stephen Moorcroft will be held with calling hours on Sunday February 15 from 2 until 4pm in the Lavery Chartrand Alario Funeral Home (www.LCAFH.com) 99 Summer St. Fitchburg MA. Private burial will be at a later date in Forest Hill Cemetery Fitchburg alongside his parents. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in memory of Bruce’s father, Duane Armstrong, to the Alzheimer’s Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter (www.alz.org/manh).
