Fitchburg :  Bruce H. Vickery 75 , of Fitchburg, MA passed away peacefully  on November 1,2022 in UMass Memorial Hospital –Leominster with his family at his side.

Bruce was born in Worcester, MA November 2, 1946 the son of the late Earle R. Vickery Jr. and Calista D. (Howe) Vickery. He was raised in Princeton and was a graduate of Worcester Academy.  Anaccomplished, life-long skier, and voracious reader, Bruce served in the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in March of 1972.

Bruce was the store manager at Dow Shoe Store in Gardner, MA for over 30 years before his retirement in 2012. He was a communicant of St. Bernard Parish and enjoyed his retirement with travels abroad and to Hawaii, and brewing beer at home for friends and family.  Bruce was a talented stained-glass artist, making his own artwork as well as restoring large masterworks at St. Bernard’s Parish at St. Camillus Church.  A kind and generous friend, Bruce was always willing to lend a hand to help others, or dedicate time to chat about family, trivia, or the Red Sox.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jacquelyn (Pitkiewicz) Vickery, two children, Heidi Vickery-Uechi and her husband Jason Uechi of Montclair, New Jersey and Matthew B. Vickery and his wife Jennifer of Sunderland, MA, two grandchildren Kai and Leo, his brothers, Andrew Vickery of Athol, MA andDouglas Vickery of Boyton Beach, Florida, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Russell Vickery.

 A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Bruce on Wednesday November 16, 2022 @ 10a.m. in St. Bernard Parish @ St. Camillus De Lellis Church 333 Mechanic St. Fitchburg, MA. All friends and relatives are welcome to attend and should meet at the church. Inurnment in St. Bernard Cemetery will be private at the request of his family. There are no calling hours.
