Claudette Rita (Lemay) Ashby    April 11, 1939 - July 2, 2024

Claudette Ashby of Fitchburg, MA passed away peacefully, with her loving daughters by her side, at Worcester UMass Memorial Medical University Campus, on July 2, 2024 after a long struggle with various health complications.

She was born in Marlborough, MA on April 11, 1939, the eldest child of Henry Lemay and Helen(LaFrance) Lemay who moved to Fitchburg, MA in 1942 where she lived the remainder of her life.  She attended the Immaculate Conception School and Fitchburg High School.  Claudette met the love of her life, Norman Ashby at age 16 and they married on September 6, 1958.  She worked in Fitchburg at Alcon Plastics, Anwelt Shoe Co., the Rendezvous Restaurant, and along side her husband at Rollstone Coins & Jewelry, a business they proudly owned and operated for over 30 years.  She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and Sacred Heart Parish.

Claudette cared deeply for her family and friends, holding everyone dear to her heart.  Her  unconditional love, kindness, and compassion resonated with everyone who entered her life.  She will be missed by so many.

She enjoyed spending time shopping and having lunches with her sister, especially finding Christmas gifts which she considered a year-round sport.  She loved watching movies with her husband and enjoyed their trips to Bermuda, Las Vegas, and to Canada to visit family.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, listening and dancing to the music of Elvis and Tom Jones.

Claudette is survived by her loving husband Norman Ashby, daughter Sharon Aho and husband John, daughter Ann Ashby and life partner Cornelia, sister Diane Rameau, niece and goddaughter Lori Pucko and husband Michael, nephews Ricky Landry, Timmy Landry, and Jesse Robshaw, great nephew Matthew Pucko, great niece Monica Skowronek, dear cousins Joyce Helmer, Bev Warila, several cousins throughout the U.S. and Canada and special friends Sandra and Davi. She is predeceased by her brother Henry (Paul) Lemay in 1992 and brother-in-law David Rameau 2022.

Our family would like to thank UMass Memorial Health Alliance-Hospital Leominster Campus,  and Worcester UMass Memorial University Campus medical staff, and home visiting staff of Equalizer Home Health for their compassionate care.
