OBITUARY NOTICE
Fitchburg: Daniel J. Wholey 58 of Fitchburg, MA. passed away peacefully Monday January 1, 2018 after a long and courageous fifteen month battle with Myeloblastic Leukemia in UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus, Worcester,MA.
He was born November 7, 1959 in Lowell, MA. son of Donald F. and Mary (Cobery) Wholey. He was one of five boys raised in Chelmsford, MA. on Edgelawn Ave. He was a graduate of Chelmsford High School Class of 1977. He then attended UMass Lowell and graduated in 1982.He lived in Fitchburg,MA. with his wife Karen for the last twenty-two years.
Dan was an Informational Technology Director for the banking industry,he worked for eleven years at Danvers Bank, Worker’s Credit Uniton from 1985 till 1994 , and the last six years at Northeast Bank in Boston, MA.
Dan loved sports and was an outstanding baseball player for UMass Lowel in his collegiate years.. He also played for the Lunenburg Phillies for several years. He was an avid golfer and loved seaglass hunting on Cape Cod., but most important to Dan was his love for his family. He was an amazing husband ,father, son and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Karen M. (Romano) Wholey, two children, Timothy D. Wholey and wife Stephanie and Daniela R. Wholey all of Fitchburg, MA., four brothers, Tim and his wife Joyce Wholey of Hollis, N.H. , John and his wife Cathy Wholey of Arundel, Maine, Thomas and his wife Denise Wholey of Manchester, N.H. and Brian and his wife Sharon Wholey of Chelmsford, MA. his mother Mary Wholey of York, Maine , mother – in-law- Mary Romano of Leominster,MA. and several nieces and nephews aunts uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Donald F. Wholey in2008. His funeral will be held on Monday January 8,2018 with a Mass at 11a.m. in St. Anthony Di Padua Church 84 Salem St. Fitchburg, MA. Interment will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday at the funeral home from 2 until 5.m. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Mass Chapter, 495 Old Connecticut Path, Suite 220, Framingham, MA. 01701.
