David Joseph Thomas of New Ipswich, NH, died peacefully on May 5, 2025 from complications of kidney disease. He was born May 1, 1950 in Fitchburg MA to Mary (Chartrand) Thomas and Joseph Thomas. He lived in Fitchburg until the family moved to New Ipswich in 1954. David attended school there and graduated from Appleton Academy in 1968.
David was an avid chess player in his youth and it became a lifeblong passion. He was a member of the Fitchburg Chess Club. He was a runner in his youth, and an avid lifelong reader.
David had a varied work history that included being a Digital employee in Fitchburg, ran his own real estate agency, and was a long haul truck driver, allowing him to tour the country.
He is survived by his brother, Peter Thomas, niece Catheryn Moonsong of Saginaw MI and her two sons, and nephew James Thomas of Monrovia, CA and his two daughters and a son.
There will be no viewing, as David generously donated his body to help others. Donations may be made in his name to the National Kidney Foundation.
A celebration of life will be held for the family, time and place to be determined.
