Diane J Allen (Francis) passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2026 following a courageous battle with lung cancer and dementia. Diane was born on July 25, 1945 in Fitchburg Massachusetts. Following her Graduation from Fitchburg High School in 1963, Diane worked as a bookkeeper at Sears Roebucks, the Hope Company and joined her husband Victor as the co-owner of Allen Office Products. In retirement she worked at Daewoo North Auto Sales.
Meeting her husband Victor in 1965, they married in 1967 and raised a family in Lunenburg where Diane lived a life of service. She spent time volunteering with the Girl Scouts, the Finance Committee for the Town of Lunenburg, the Committee to Elect Mary Padula, Lunenburg Little League and the St. Vincent’s de Paul Food Pantry at St. Francis Church, to name a few.
To say that Diane was sassy would be an understatement. She loved a good joke and a good looking man, believing that laughter is always the best medicine. Diane was famous for her uncanny ability to talk to anyone whether it be a lifelong friend or the cashier at Market Basket, she would always make time to listen and make you smile. In the words of her husband Vic, " Diane never met anyone she didn't like".
A loving wife, a devoted mother and a great friend, Diane will be missed by all that knew her. Diane is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Victor, her daughter Sara, grandchildren Dominic (Courtney) Allen, Isabella (Athenie) Latimer, Jonah (Alexis) Latimer, great granddaughter Adeline, little baby Latimer due in June, several nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Diane was predeceased by her parents, John and Deliah Francis, brothers’ Jack and Tommy, sister Julie Marceau and her beloved son Scott in 2016.
The family would like to thank her aide Lynda from New Beginnings for always bringing Diane a smile, Aging Services of Worcester County and the Lunenburg Senior Center.
Finally, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, Diane would instead want all who loved her to share a laugh, a kind word to a stranger or simply smile because you knew her, and remember to dance like no one is watching and sing like no one can hear.. Services for Diane will be held at a later date at the request of her family. There are no calling hours
