Donald Montville Obituary

Donald Montville, 73, passed on September 26, 2025, at St. Vincent’s Hospital surrounded by his family after battling an illness. He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Janice (Cormier), his children Jennifer Ryan, and her husband Moe, and Maria King, as well as his grandson Joseph King II. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Helen(Jakubowski)Montville. An only child who married into a large family, he also leaves behind his siblings-in-law and their spouses, as well as many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Donald was born on December 15, 1951, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He was a graduate of St. Bernard’s High School where he was an avid track athlete. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam war as boiler technician. He ran his ownbusiness, Monty’s Boiler Service, for many years and continued to use his skills in boiler operation and furnace repair throughout many industries during his career, including years of service at Fitchburg Paperand Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s boiler room, as well as St. Vincent’s Hospital and NRG most recently.

Don was passionate about fishing, yelling at the Patriots, and sneaking table scraps to the dog. He was well-liked, despite his best efforts, and enjoyed decades long friendships with those close to him. He will be remembered as someone who never hesitated to help his friends, family, or neighbors.

Private burial will be held at Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Legion to support veterans’ services.
