Doris Thibeault Obituary

Fitchburg—Doris M. Thibeault, 91, a lifetime resident of the Fitchburg/Leominster area, entered peacefully into the presence of Jesus on June 7, 2021.  Following the example of her Savior, she lived with a servant’s heart, seeking to welcome, encourage, and bless those around her.  Doris faced many years of health challenges with perseverance and grace, all the while maintaining her sense of humor and her hope in the Lord.

Doris was born in Fitchburg, MA on October 2, 1929.  She was the youngest of nine children born to Liboire and Grace (Guenette) St. Jean.  She married her high school sweetheart, Armand J. Thibeault, on October 1, 1949.  Together they shared 65 happy years of marriage and raised six children.  Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She cared for many elderly relatives during their final years and had a way of making everyone feel special and deeply loved.

Doris was a woman of many interests and talents.  She enjoyed making soups, cooking large family dinners, and bakingpastries and decorated cakes for all occasions.  She loved quilting, crafting, and crocheting gifts for family and friends.Doris did not like to see anything go to waste.  She refinished old furniture, made braided rugs out of old wool coats, and found creative ways to use up just about anything.

Our family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of the Highlands Life Care Center in Fitchburg for the excellent care that Mom received for over six years.  She enjoyed her “home,” activities, friendships, and all the staff members who became near and dear to her heart.  Thank you for helping us stay connected to our mom during the pandemic and for working diligently to keep her safe.

Doris is survived by her children Patricia Gardiner and husband, James; Michael Thibeault; Kenneth Thibeault and wife, Suzette; Pamela Myhren and husband, Jeffrey; Paula Butler and husband, Mark; and Peggy Hastings and husband, Scott.  Seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren affectionately called her Grammy or Mémère.  Doris was predeceased by her husband, Armand, in 2014, her eight siblings, daughter-in-law, Denise Thibeault, and grandsons Timothy and Kenneth Thibeault.

Her funeral will be held on Monday June 14,2021 with a Mass at Our Lady of The Lake Church, 1400 Main St. Leominster, MA @ 10:30a.m. Inurnment will follow in St Joseph Cemetery.
