Eileen Bourgault, 69, of Fitchburg, passed away Wednesday morning at home with her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a woman of immense strength, resilience, and kindness, leaving a mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
She was born to the late George and Olive O’Leary on November 11, 1953, in Fitchburg. She graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1971. Upon graduation, Eileen worked at many different local businesses such as IC Credit Union, Oak Hill Country Club, Slattery’s, and Shack’s, where she met her husband, Kent. In her later years, she worked as a paraprofessional in the Fitchburg Public School System. She always greeted everyone she met with a warm smile.
Eileen was married to Kent Bourgault in 1977. Their marriage was a testament to unwavering commitment, in both sickness and health. Together, they created a home full of laughter and love. She is survived by her two daughters: Marcy Duhamel of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Hayley Hudson of Leominster, MA; her four grandchildren: Evan Schneider, Willow Duhamel, Dana K. Duhamel, and Collin Hudson. She is also survived by her sister Judith Normandin of Fitchburg, MA, and her brother, Daniel O’Leary of Lewes, Delaware. She is predeceased by her brothers Timothy O’Leary, John O’Leary, and Michael O’Leary. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind many dear family members, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
In her leisure time, Eileen embraced life’s simple pleasures: enjoying ice cream with her grandchildren, breakfast meet-ups with friends, shopping excursions with her daughters, and collecting sand dollars at the beach in Maine. Family, above all, was her greatest joy in life; she was endlessly proud of her husband, daughters, and grandchildren. They take comfort in the countless memories shared during her lifetime.
Loved ones of Eileen are invited to gather at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 29th at Lavery-Chartrand-Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer Street in Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to Care Central VNA & Hospice, 34 Pearly Lane in Gardner, MA.
