Eva Desjardins Obituary

Fitchburg, Eva (LeBlanc) Desjardins, 94, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester.

Eva was born at home in Fitchburg May 26, 1928 daughter and middle child of Arthur and Marie (Arsenault) LeBlanc. She was a lifelong resident of Fitchburg. Her husband of 59 years Philip Desjardins died in 2009.

Eva will be greatly missed by her 2 sons Steven Desjardins and his wife Jane of Fitchburg and James Desjardins of Lunenburg, 2 grandchildren, Amy Desjardins Davis and Christopher Desjardins and his wife Heather Ferguson, 4 great grandchildren; Aidan Davis, Gabriel Davis, Brielle Desjardins and Ewan Desjardins.

Proud of her family of 13 siblings Eva was the last remaining sibling of her LeBlanc family. Eva was predeceased  by siblings: Laurie LeBlanc, Zoe l  Leblanc, Arline Russo, Henry (Fat) LeBlanc, Dorine Waskewicz, Clarence LeBlanc, Leon LeBlanc, Arthur(Bullet) LeBlanc, Jeannette Caron, Marguerite (Margie) Richardson, Ovila J. (Tash) LeBlanc and Priscilla (Peanut) Williams, also many dear nieces and nephews.

Eva marched in the St. Joseph’s drill team and worked as a candy striper at Burbank Hospital as a teenager. She went to St. Joseph Elementary and St. Bernard High School, class of 1946. Eva worked at Touraine’s Clothing Store in the Searstown Mall for many years. She was later a realtor with Denault Realty for years. Eva went on to sell trailers with husband   Phil at Phil’s Garage on Summer St. Whalom. After retiring she enjoyed being the tour guide at the Shell factory in North Ft. Myers, Fl, where she met people from all over the world. Eva was a member of Sr. Francis Church, Fitchburg and the St. Francis card group. Eva and Phil enjoyed many summers at the Hampton Beach trailer Park and winters in North Ft. Myers. She loved cards, golf, bingo, bowling and especially her daily happy hour with her many friends in Florida for 33 years. Eva was an avid Boston Red Sox and Patriots fan.

Eva and Phil were fortunate enough to have visited Alaska with their Florida friends, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Arizona.

Eva formed a loving bond with both of her grandchildren and held them close to her heart. They loved their Memere. She was overjoyed to spend time with her 4 great grandchildren getting to know and love them and watch  them grow. They loved their great-memere, such fun they had together. Eva looked forward to chatting with her friends each evening here at home and playing cards with her dear neighbors  whom she loved very much.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff at Dodge Park Rest Home, Worcester, especially Patty, Marily , Luiza, Samantha, Renee, Erica, Courtney and Carrie and the Hospice from Notre Dame kate and Marni.

Her Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:30am in St. Francis of Assisi Church 63 Sheridan St. Fitchburg. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery Fitchburg. A Calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 until 11:00am am in the Lavery, Chartrand, Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St. Fitchburg AM.
