Gary Brousseau Obituary

Gary A. Brousseau, 79, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026 at his home following a period of declining health. Gary was born October 14th 1946, son to the late Adrian Brousseau and Gloria (Cloutier) Miller. He leaves behind his former wife of 37 years (recently re-engaged at Christmas) Janet (Guilmette) Brousseau; his son Jason Brousseau and his two children Mia Brousseau and Connor Brousseau; his daughter Jaime (Brousseau) Holden, her husband Edward Holden, their child Alex Holden and his dog Sammie.

He is survived by his siblings, brother Carl Brousseau and his wife Lois Brousseau; sister Joanne (Brousseau) Tracey and her husband Brian Tracey; brother Steven Brousseau and his wife Maria Brousseau; along with nieces, Jackie Tracey Munson, Michelle Tracey Shepler and Kelly Brousseau.

He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Denise (Guilmette) Barbero, brother-in-law James Barbero, niece & godchild Lauren (Barbero) Hachey and her family, niece Lindsey (Barbero) Frost and her family, and niece Ashley (Barbero) Valeri and her family.

Gary was born and raised in Leominster and a survivor of polio when he was a child. He attended Leominster High School and then went on to a trade school for culinary arts.  He enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged.  He went on to drive buses for the F&L Bus Company in Fitchburg and eventually started his own business called “Gary Tours”, which he always said his most memorable client was Neil Diamond.

Gary married Janet in 1975 and later purchased a farm property in 1983 in Templeton and built it into a horse farm, which they named Briarwood Stables.  You could always find Gary out on the farm somewhere either building stalls, fixing fencing, stacking hay, plowing snow or just gabbing at the front door drinking his coffee. Gary also went on to work at the Devereux School in Rutland for 21 years, eventually retiring from the night Supervisor position in 2014.

Gary loved his retirement years.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards, listening to his favorite music, making puzzles, watching game shows and the news, watching movies and Perry Mason, watching trains, scratching lottery tickets, singing karaoke with his girls, sitting in the sun with his dog, going to breakfast with his siblings, grocery shopping, vacationing at the beach in Maine, and most of all, cooking in his kitchen.

Gary is unforgettable by all that knew him, loved him, and those he met along the way. His smile, laugh, antics, curse words and “flipping the bird” gestures will be missed by all.  He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in-law, godfather, uncleand friend. He will forever live on in our hearts.
