Obituary
Fitchburg: Harold W. Allard 90 of Fitchburg, MA passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, April 22, 2022 in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital.
He was born in Granville, New York November 11, 1931, son of Harold Hitchcock and Mildred Juckett. He was raised in Vermont. He lived in Fitchburg, MA most of his life.
Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948. He served during the Korean War and was discharged with the rank of SGT. in 1952.
Harold married Irene in 1952, leaving the service to work at the Hartford Courant newspaper. In 1960, he moved to South Lancaster, MA to begin Seminary school at Atlantic Union College. While at college he held a full time job at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, while raising three boys. He graduated from seminary school, completing a 4 year degree in 3 years, with Summa Cum Laude honors.
In 1963, he began his ministerial work where he was the pastor for 3 parishes simultaneously in: New London, CT, Westerly, RI and Pawcatuck, CT. In 1968, he took a parish in Fitchburg, MA.
Harold Left the ministry in 1970 to manage the Pheasant Run ski area/golf course where he was the club professional, while completing a Master’s degree in Counseling at Northeastern University (now with 5 children).
He subsequently completed a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in counseling from Fitchburg State College. He completed his working years in the service departments of North End Auto, and Salvadore Chevrolet.
Harold spent several of his retirement years constructing a golf course, golf being his true passion.
He is survived by his four children, George W. Allard and his wife Suzanne of Rindge, NH, David J. Allard and his wife Lourenza of Fitchburg, MA, Harold J. “Hal” Allard of West Roxbury, MA and Sheryl Ann Femino of Hubbardston, MA.
Six grandchildren, Zachary, Nicholas, Carl, Phelix, Gwyneth and Mary.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Irene M. (Jarrosak) Allard in 2008 and his son Carl D. Allard in 1989.
