Helen (Rinki) Wornham

Lunenburg-Helen I. (Rinki) Wornham, 76, lifelong resident of Lunenburg died Tuesday, December 21, 2021 in Health Alliance, Leominster Hospital.

Helen was born in Fitchburg on May 10, 1945 daughter of Toimi and Aili (Junkala) Rinki. Helen was a 1963 Lunenburg High School graduate, where she excelled in basketball being named to the Lunenburg High School Basketball Hall of Fame. She had attended Fitchburg State College. She was a lifetime member of the Eastwood Club and was a spouse member of the Biddeford-Saco Lodge of Elks #1597.

Helen worked for the Department of Defense as a Payroll Administrator for 20 years retiring in 2005. Before this she had worked for Worcester County National Bank for many years.

Helen enjoyed her summers with the Silver Springs Campground family in Saco Maine. She was a Boston Sports fan and enjoyed playing Bingo, camping and crocheting.

Helen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Arthur “Butch” Wornham of Lunenburg, two sons; Alan Wornham of Auburn and John and his wife Janet Wornham of Worcester, one daughter Colby and her husband Michael McPhee of Fitchburg, a brother Walter and his wife Carol Rinki of Dover FL, a sister Joann and her husband Jim O’Sullivan of Clearwater FL, a sister-in-law Mary Rinki of Sunnyvale, CA, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother Robert Rinki.

Calling hours under the direction of Stephen Moorcroft, Lavery, Chartrand, Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St. Fitchburg will be held on Thursday from 4 until 6 pm in the funeral home. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
