Hjaltlina April Thompson, 51, passed away unexpectedly at her Lunenburg, Massachusetts home on September 7th, 2023.
Hjaltlina was born in Leominster, Massachusetts on September 5th, 1972 to Allyn Thompson and the late Herdis Johannesdottir Thompson.
April grew up and made her home in Lunenburg, MA, for most of her life. She spent many years working in retail in Leominster, MA, as well as Marlborough, MA ,where she made many friends and had a successful career in retail management. Later in life she enjoyed a new path and worked for The Healthy Side in Townsend, MA, where she enjoyed learning and teaching holistic treatments, she was also a certified herbalist.
April was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004 , which she battled courageously for many years. Despite her health struggles, April always remained kind and empathetic. She was always willing to help others in any way she could. She gave the best hugs and loved family holiday gatherings. Her laugh was contagious. April had so many gifts and talents. She was quick-witted and naturally funny without trying. She was very musical and seemed to know every lyric to every song. She was prone to breaking out in song if anyone uttered something that resembled a lyric! Often she made up her own which will be stuck in the heads of anyone that ever heard her make one up. She brought joy to all that loved her.
If you were lucky enough for April to give you a nickname, it was yours forever. Especially the kids that she loved so much! She also loved the beauty of nature - sunsets, clouds and beautiful scenery always attracted her. April's pets were her buddies - she adored every pet she ever had and they brought her great comfort.
April was a loving sister, daughter, aunt and friend, leaving behind many people who loved her dearly. These include her father Allyn Thompson and her brother Cary Thompson, both of Lunenburg, her sister Sonja O’Brien of Greenville, NH, as well as her brother-in-law Stephen O’Brien Jr. Also her niece and nephew Jolie O’Brien and Stephen O’Brien III, both of Greenville, NH, and her nephew Matthew Thompson of Leominster, MA. She will be missed by numerous cousins here in the US as well as her cousins, aunts and an uncle in Iceland. April was predeceased by her mother Herdis Johannesdottir Thompson, whom she cared for lovingly until her passing.
A private funeral service will be held at the Lavery Chartrand Alario 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, MA at 11am. on Saturday, October 14, 2023
