John Anthony Garcia - January 9, 1961 – July 22, 2022 

Fitchburg – John Garcia passed away peacefully on July, 22, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 9, 1961, in Leominster, MA, son of the late Robert R. Garcia and Juanita M. (Lopez) Garcia. John is survived by his brother Ernest Garcia and sister-in-law Elaine Garcia. His sisters, Genevieve Riggins Grey, Sylvia Pepin and her husband Tony Pepin, Debra Sesia and her husband Paul Sesia. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Leroy Garcia, his sister Surilda (DeeDee) Tocci, and his stepbrother, Jason Garcia. 

John attended Fitchburg and Leominster schools. Completed 2 years of studies at Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York. John found comfort through his belief in God and read his daily devotional faithfully. John enjoyed cowboy movies, word search books, and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He will be remembered fondly by his family and how he had often had nicknames for many loved ones. 

A special thank you to his dedicated nurses, his niece Jennifer Garcia and niece Theresa Riggins and his "angel” care team during the last year. Thank you to the UMass Hospice Team for the compassionate oversight of John’s care. 

Funeral mass will be held on August 3, 2022 at 11:00am in St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus de Lellis Church, located at 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg, MA, Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.  

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Our Father’s House, Inc., 53 Lunenburg St., Fitchburg, MA in memory of John Garcia.
