Obituary Notice
Hampton CT - Katherine Xarras Stone, 77 of Hampton CT, and a former resident of Lunenburg, MA passed away peacefully in her daughter Nicole’s home on Wednesday, February 7,2024 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Fitchburg, MA on December 7, 1946, the daughter of the late Forteos H. Xarras and Antigone (Geas) Xarras.
Kathy worked as an executive assistant in administration and CEO support for Borden Chemical, the former Digital Equipment Corp., etc. before her retirement several years ago. She also enjoyed volunteer work at animal shelters.
She was a member of Holy trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fitchburg, MA.
Kathy was known as a fierce competitor with a larger-than-life personality. She was an avid bowler when she was younger and loved playing cards with her dad. She enjoyed playing games with her nieces and nephews on “Game Night” (she was the best Bingo caller). She was a storyteller like no other, oftentimes with punch lines that would make you cry from laughter. She can be remembered by loving her family unconditionally, watching game shows with her Aunt Bessie, and yelling at the TV during Celtics games. She was the most gracious and beautiful soul. She said that she was blessed to have her daughter Nicole, whom she adored. She also loved her two Great Dane grand-dogs Cosmo Kramer and Hank the Tank, and the feeling was mutual.
She is survived by her daughter Nicole and her husband Douglas Weatherman of Hampton, CT, her sister Joanne Xarras of Arizona, brothers Michael Xarras and wife Karen of Winchendon MA, Stephen Xarras and wife Sharon of Lunenburg, MA, and James Xarras and wife Laurie of Lunenburg, MA. She was also a Godmother to her niece Stephanie and her nephews Nicholas and Alex and had many other nieces and nephews whom she loved.
Services for Katherine will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 with calling hours at the church from 10am until12pm followed by a church service beginning at noon. All relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
