Kathryn Cote Obituary

Kathryn (Kathy) Winifred (Lamothe) Cote, 87, of Fitchburg, MA passed peacefully, Sunday,  July 17, 2022 at U Mass Medical Hospital, Leominster, MA of complications from Dementia.

She was born August 21, 1934, in Fitchburg, MA to Arthur Delaney Lamothe and Regina Kathryn (Fournier) Lamothe. Kathryn is pre-deceased by her brothers, Arthur E. Lamothe of Meriden, CT in 1996 and John H. Lamothe of Fitchburg, MA in 2019. She is survived by her sister, Ann J. (Lamothe) Bissonnette of Leominster, MA.

Kathryn grew up in Leominster, MA and, once married, moved to Fitchburg with her husband, Ronald E. Cote. Kathryn and Ronald (Ron) shared a remarkable 50 years of marriage before his passing in November,2004. Together they had six children and raised them in the home she has lived in for over 65 years.

Kathryngraduated St. Bernard’s High School in 1952. When her children were young, she was a Girl Scout leader for many years(as fondly remembered by her three sons.) Later in life she went to work as a CNA for Hospice and consistently worked the polls for the City of Fitchburg.

Kathryn was an avid reader, bowler, knitter, and gardener. She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Bernard’s Parish (now St. Cecelia’s.) She and Ron loved to travel, and whether it was a nice day trip or cruising in Alaska, they enjoyed their time together. She enjoyed having her large family over for holidays or their visits every summer for BBQs by the pool. Kathryn cherished each moment with her family as it continued to grow.

Kathryn is survived by her children Patricia (Patty) Hall of Gardner, MA; Ronald E. Cote II and Kathleen Clonan of Fitchburg, MA; Michael A. Cote and his wife, Laurie of Groton, MA; Leo J. Cote and his wife Melissa (Missy) of Westminster, MA. She is pre-deceased by two of her daughters, Veronica (Vickie) Davis of Gardner, MA in November2021 and Susan K. Cote of Fitchburg, MA in January 2005.

Kathryn was blessed with a large family who loved her. She leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 32Great-grandchildren and 4 Great-great-grandchildren in addition to many much-loved nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and her beloved dog, Ace.

Calling hours are Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 5pm–7pm at Lavery, Chartrand ,Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420. A small service will follow.

Her family wishes to thank the staff at Fitchburg Health Care in Fitchburg where she recently moved, UMass Memorial in Leominster, as well as the dedicated PCA’s that cared for her at home.
