Lauretta Mae (Balzer) O'Day

Fitchburg- Lauretta Mae(Balzer) O'Day, 97 of Fitchburg died November 4, 2018 in HealthAlliance/Leominster Hospital.

Lauretta was born in Quincy MA on October 8,1921 daughter of Rudolph and Laura (Davis) Balzer. She was a 1940 graduate of Fitchburg High School where she was a member of the 1940 championship basket ball team,  played volleyball and was a swimmer. She was a fan of the Yankees, Giants, Bruins and Celtics. She was an Elvis fanatic. Before retiring several years ago she worked for the former R & R Jewelry Store in West Fitchburg.

Her husband Thomas Francis O'Day died June 18, 1083. She leaves one son Thomas P. O'Day and his wife Patricia of Westminster, one daughter Susan C. O'Day and her husband Rolf Crippen of Reno Nevada, grandsons Timothy P. O'Day and his wife Jody of Templeton, Christopher O'Day of Westminster and Matthew S. O'Day and his wife Rebekah O'Day of Westminster, great grandchildren Jake, Ellison and Kellan of Templeton and Maeve, Declan and Finley of Westminster and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and five brothers.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery Fitchburg. There are no calling hours. Moorcroft, Lavery, Chartrand and Alairo Funeral Home Fitchburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
