                                                        Obituary

Fitchburg:  Lisa Marie Smith ,59 of Fitchburg, MA passed away on Friday September 16,2022  in Fitchburg Gardens Nursing  and Rehab Center.

She was the daughter of the late George V. Smith and Linda A. Smith of Bradenton, Florida. Lisa attended the former B.F. Brown School where she played basketball and was awarded the Scholar Athlete Award. She went on to Fitchburg High School where she played Basketball and softball. Lisa won Teams Offensive Player  and Central Mass Allstar for both sports. She was recruited for scholarship to Worcester State University. The FHS sports historian recently called her a true Red Raider.

Lisa worked in health care for most of her life. She was a surgical supply purchaser for Dr’s Hospital in Sarasota, Florida for many years. Upon returning to Massachusetts, she was employed as a surgical instrument tech at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital. Lisa had also lived in Vermont as was a coach for Girls on the Run which mentored young girls of which Maya was a part. Lisa was also known as Lili, Smitty, Webster, and Jukie for her overall information and music knowledge. She in turn would refer to most of us as a “bute”. Lisa was fun sweet and kind. She was a gift to all who knew her. It is hard to imagine life without her. She will always be in our hearts, minds and memories. Lisa has so many life long devoted friends. She also enjoyed darts and playing pool.

Besides her mother she is survived by her sister, Jodi A. Lacross, her brother Scott V. Smith and wife Norene, her nephew Tyler Lacross, and nieces Jordan Lacross, Chelsea Smith, Lauren Smith and Haley Nowlan. Her aunt Donna St. Germain “Don Don”, her dear friend Martha Crozier Povey and her stepchildren, Kaitlyn and Maya Povey and the late John Povey and her dog Lily whom she adored.
