Marilyn A. Dufort, known as “Auntie," by her beloved family, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at Sunrise Senior Living in Leominster, Massachusetts, at the age of 74 after a period of declining health.
Born on July 20, 1950, to the late Arthur and Irene (Dupuis) Dufort, Marilyn was a lifelong resident of the City of Fitchburg. She graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1968 and later attended Fitchburg State University. Marilyn spent her career working in the Accounting Department at the Aubuchon Hardware Corporate Office in Westminster until her retirement.
Marilyn was a devoted member of Saint Francis of Assisi in Fitchburg, took part in the Eucharistic Adoration at St. Camillus Churchand many prayer groups. She was a talented singer in the St. Francis of Assisichoir, member of the parish finance committee and part of the Ladies Guild for over 40 years.
She was also a Red Sox fan through thick and thin and cherished the many cats she adopted over her lifetime. She volunteered regularly at the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry and organized many bowling leagues and enjoyed traveling in her younger years, particularly to Medjugorje. Her kind and generous nature will be deeply missed.
Marilyn leaves behind her brother David Dufort and his wife Joan, nieces Marsha Bottino and Melissa Goss, their husbands, three grandnieces and a grandnephew. She is also survived by many dear cousins, friends, and her beloved cats. Marilyn is predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Irene Dufort, a close Aunt, Bertha Dufort and cousin, Victor Dupuis.
Marilyn’s family would like to express their gratitude to the Memory Care staff of Sunrise Senior Living for their care, comfort, and compassion shown to Marilyn during her time with them the past few months.
Services will be held on Friday, July 18,2025 with a Mass at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, 63 Sheridan Street, Fitchburg, MA @ 10:30a.m.followed by burial at St. Bernard Cemetery where Marilyn will be laid to rest beside her parents. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9a.m. until 10a.m.All are welcome to attend.
