Marilyn (Lomax) Ide passed away on August 8, under compassionate care at Benchmark Senior Living, Leominster, after a difficult journey of neurodegenerative decline. She is survived by her children, Debra Perrett and her husband Jim of Ashburnham, Kathleen Ide-French of Granby, and Raymond Ide and his wife Jennifer of Ponte Vedra, FL; six grandchildren, Ross, Lauren, Kelsey, Daniel, Samantha, and Madelyn; and “the little ones” great grandchildren, Eliza, Axel, and Estelle, who never failed to put a smile on “GG’s” face. Marilyn was predeceased by her devoted husband of 67 years, W. Raymond Ide, her parents, Leo F. and Avis (Gibbons) Lomax, and brothers Leo and John (Jerry) Lomax.
Marilyn was born and raised in Cranston, RI, graduating from Cranston High School. She worked in multiple offices as a secretary-bookkeeper, ultimately retiring as Executive Assistant to the Management Team at the Herbert Lipton Community Mental Health Center, where she was known to be friendly,helpful and efficient! She formed friendships there that provided her with decades of lunches and laughs.
Marilyn was a fine cook and took great pleasure feeding both family and friends. She lovingly made colorful fruit salads for all occasions. She had a passion for flowers and spent many hours tending her garden. Marilyn and Ray grew their young family in Hooksett, NH and Williamstown, MA eventually settling in Ashburnham, where they maintained a home they loved for 51 years. Marilyn enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s hockey games and dance recitals. She was an avid baseball fan, enthusiastically supporting the Red Sox, and a mother-volunteer for Ashburnham Little League concessions. Marilyn enjoyed family ski trips, beach cottage vacations in Green Hill, RI, a cup of hot tea, and all things lemon.
Marilyn will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Ray, at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA. Lavery Chartrand Alario Funeral Home are entrusted with arrangements. Per Marilyn’s wishes, burial will be private.There are no calling hours.
