Mark S. DeBettencourt passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023 at Leominster Hospital with his family at his side. Mark was born on August 6, 1953 to Robert F. and Rita (Leger) DeBettencourt in Leominster. Mark lived his childhood in Lunenburg, MA and moved around until he settled in Ashby, MA where he lived for many years before moving to Leominster, MA.
Mark is predeceased by his parents, Robert DeBettencourt Sr. and Rita (Leger) DeBettencourt, brother John DeBettencourt, brother Brian DeBettencourt, nephew Rick Hendrickson, sister in law Cecile DeBettencourt and brother in law Charles Forcier.
Mark leaves behind his brother Robert DeBettencourt Jr of Leominster, brother Michael DeBettencourt of Lunenburg and his wife Valerie, brother Timothy DeBettencourt of Townsend and his wife Carol, brother Keith DeBettencourt of Leominster and his sister Debra (DeBettencourt) Forcier of Gardner and numerous cousins, neices and nephews.
Mark was a 1971 graduate of Lunenburg High and went on to work as a teenager in the plastics industry and then at Sweethart Plastics for many years before coming to Fitchburg and managing Lemay Liquors for a few years and subsequently working for Gomes Liquors from 1990 until retiring in November of 2022. He owned his own snowplowing company and plowed for several years.
Mark was the master of nicknames and had one for everyone he met. He was always smiling and joking around.
He will be sorely missed by many friends and relatives.
The family would like to thank the staff at Health Alliance Hospital ICU for the great care given to Mark in his final days.
His family will receive friends and family for visitation at the funeral home on Friday July 21, 2023 from 12noon until 1p.m. . Interment will follow in West Cemetery, Ashby , MA. The Lavery Chartrand Alario Funeral Home 99 Summer Street Fitchburg, MA is directing. Michael S. Alario – Director – Owner.
