Mary L Hurley

Mary L. (LaCoss) Hurley, 96 Of Fitchburg died Thursday, August 11, 2022 in The Fitchburg Healthcare Center. Mary was born on December 2, 1925 in Fitchburg daughter of Francis and Matilda (Aube) LaCoss.

She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. She was a member of St. Camillus Church in Fitchburg.

Before retiring several years ago she had been a House mother at the Burbank Hospital School of Nursing. She had also worked for the United Co-Operative Farmers egg facility in Fitchburg.  She loved animals.

Her husband of 48 years William P. Hurley died in 1995.  She leaves her sons; Terrance J. Hurley and his wife Allison of Townsend, Michael T. Hurley and his wife Mary of Fitchburg and Matthew S. Hurley and his partner Kathy Sherrill of Booth Bay Harbor Maine, her daughter Paula M. Dowd of Ashburnham, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and Patricia “Pat” Downs, surviving spouse of William P Hurley Jr. She was predeceased by her sons Daniel B. Hurley and William P. Hurley Jr., her daughter Jean K. Allen and her sister Amy Babineau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 15, 2022 at 11:00am in St. Bernard’s Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St. Fitchburg. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. A Calling hour will be held Monday morning, August 15, 2022 from 9:30am until 10:30am in the Lavery, Chartrand, Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St Fitchburg.  In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to: The Friends of the Fitchburg Public Library, 610 Main St. Fitchburg MA 01420
