Obituary
Fitchburg: Michael B. Flynn of Fitchburg, MA, passed away peacefully on November 25,2022 after a brief illness, in Fitchburg Healthcare with his family at his side.
Mike was born in Fitchburg, MA, the son of the late Henry B. Flynn and Collette (Landry) Flynn and lived all of his life in Fitchburg. Mike was a graduate of St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School class of 1975 and Fitchburg State University in 1980. He was employed for many years at the Barnes & Noble Book Store and was a manager for several college book stores.
Mike was a member of the World Record Setting Men’s Fast Pitch Softball Team and also played many years in the Fitchburg City Softball League and for the Old Timers Hockey League. He also worked as an umpire in youth baseball leagues. Mike was also very active in the Fitchburg Recreational Leagues for several years.
He was a football announcer for several years on WEIM and FATV with his good friend ,the late Dave Clark. He was an excellent candlepin bowler and had appeared on Candlepin Bowling on Channel 5.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Jeanne Wisler, his brothers, Timothy and wife Marie Flynn, Brian and his wife Kristen Flynn, nephews, Christopher and Derrick Flynn. He also leaves extended family. He was predeceased by his brother David Flynn and nephew , Patrick Flynn.
Services for Mike will be held on Saturday, December 10,2022 with a calling hour at the funeral home from 10 until 11a.m. followed by a prayer service and a time for reflection. Inurnment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
