Be the first to offer your condolences on Michael's Tribute Wall
sMichael Stephen Wailes, also known as Mike, passed away on June 29, 2022, at the age of 58, in his hometown of Fitchburg, MA. Born on March 3, 1964, in Fitchburg, Mike was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. The first thing that comes to mind about Mike was that he undeniably loved animals. Growing up, Mike could often be seen driving up Temple Street with his dogs in the back of his pickup, both howling with joy in anticipation of a cool swim and a game of frisbee. Animals were his true companions in nature, and this love for them followed him throughout his life. Mike cherished moments spent with beloved family and friends, always enjoying time together. Whether it was watching a good action movie with his mom, strumming his cherished guitars at home, or sharing smiles with his nieces, nephews, and great niece, Mike valued the bond of family. His witty comebacks and the push and pull of brotherly love will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Family was where Mike felt at home. In his career, Mike worked in the food industry, dedicating his time and skills to his profession. He made valuable contributions and touched the lives of those he worked with. Mike is survived by his mother, Jean Wailes, his brother John "Jack" Wailes, and his sister Sandra "Sandy" Leger. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold "Dean" Wailes, and his brother Dean Wailes. Mike received his primary education at Sacred Heart & Reingold Elementry Schools in Fitchburg before attending Memorial Middle school. He later graduated from Fitchburg High School, where he gained knowledge and formed lasting friendships. Mike's hobbies included hiking, biking, immersing himself in nature, and enjoying music. These activities brought him joy and allowed him to create lasting memories he loved. Mike, will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts. We take solace in knowing that he has been welcomed with open arms and familiar faces in the promised land, surrounded by all the loved ones who have gone before us. We can envision him now, happy and smiling, as he watches over us all.
