Obituary - Nancy L. Fagan
Nancy was born on December 14, 1933 in Tarrytown, NY to Ernest and Stella Leger and was raised in the Cleghorn area of Fitchburg, MA. She graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in 1951 and married Clarence (Norm) Fagan in 1953. While raising their 3 daughters in North Leominster, MA, Nancy spent many years working as a pharmacy technician at North Leominster Pharmacy. In 1973, Nancy and Norm joined Oak Hill Country Club where they spent the next 20 years playing golf and making life-long friends. In the late 80’s, they purchased a home in Ft. Pierce, Florida and became ‘snowbirds’, splitting their time between Florida and Massachusetts. During summers at home, Nancy began part-time work as a successful collection agent at the then Fitchburg Savings Bank.
A great many of their Massachusetts friends also purchased Florida homes in the same complex, which jokingly became known as ‘little Fitchburg’. For the better part of the next 30 years, Nancy and Norm enjoyed a very active retired life in Florida. When Norm passed in 2018, Nancy moved back north and took up residence at the Heywood Wakefield Commons assisted living facility in Gardner, MA, where she again made close friends, was the president of the Resident Council and maintained a relatively active lifestyle.
Throughout her life Nancy enjoyed cooking, knitting/crocheting, golfing, shopping and ANY card game. She was a particularly skillful Bridge player. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Nancy knew that she was a force of nature. She was a loyal friend, a loving mother and will be missed by all. Nancy leaves behind her three daughters, Pam McDonald of Fitchburg, Donna Klein and her husband Dan of Pittsburgh, PA and Paula Cattel and her husband Jac of Hollis, NH. As well she leaves 7 grandchildren; Stephanie Fagan, Benjamin Howland and his wife Jessica, Timothy Howland and his wife Mallory Bugala, Matthew Howland and his fiance Carolyn Crates, Hannah Cattel-Kaufold and her husband Cory, Samuel Howland and Stuart Cattel; and 4 great-grandchildren; Carly Fagan, Felix Howland, and Violet Bugala and Ivy Bugala.
