Prudence A. Bourque, 82, of Leominster, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 13, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
Prudy was born in Fitchburg on February 16, 1943, daughter of Frederick and Wilma (Smith) Matthews and has resided in Leominster for 57 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, Mimi and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She attended Spaulding Memorial High School in Townsend graduating in 1961, where she met her high school sweetheart, Ray.After high school graduation, she attended Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists in Boston, graduating in 1963 with an Associate’s Degree.
For nearly forty years Prudy worked as a dental hygienist for various dentists in the Leominster area, working the majority of her career and retiring from Leominster Family Dentist, formerly known as Dr. Babineau and Dr. Markowitz. Prudy developed numerous loving and lasting friendships with coworkers from her dental family.
Most of all she loved spending time with her grandsons’playing games and attending their sporting events. Prudy and Ray enjoyed spending winters in Florida. During the summer months, you could find her enjoying the outdoors tending to her flower gardens, sitting on her porch reading a good book, chatting with neighbors and knitting. She took pride in knitting hats to donate for newborn babies. Prudy also accompanied Ray tocar shows showing off his 1939 Chevrolet Coupe where they formed terrific friendships with other car club members.
Prudy was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Raymond W. Bourque who passed on June 5, 2020. She is survived by her son Brian W. Bourque of Leominster, her daughter Karen D. Andrzejewski and her husband Michael of Leominster, her two grandsons, Evan Michael Andrzejewski and Alex Raymond Andrzejewski, whom she loved dearly. Her sister Cindy Jeannotte and husband Bob of Shirley; her sister-in-law Patricia Zukowski and her fiancé, Rocco Cardaci of Rutland. She also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends.
The family would like to extended their sincere thank you to the staff at the Leominster Emergency Department for the loving and compassionate care they provided during her final hours.
BOURQUE – A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 10a.m.at Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union Street, Leominster.At Prudy’s request, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private at a later date.
