Fitchburg:  Richard  A. “Rick”  Rivard, 70 of Fitchburg, MA passed away Monday evening, November 14,2022  in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital.

Rick was born on February 24,1952 in Fitchburg, MA the son of the late Romeo and Elizabeth (Spelios) Rivard and lived all of his life in Fitchburg and Leominster.. He was a graduate of St. Bernard’ Central Catholic High School Class of 1970.

 Rick was a self employed licensed plumber for many years.

Rick was drum major for the Royal Squires in his younger years and enjoyed attending many drum corp competitions in his adult life. He was a huge and talented baseball player in high school and at that time had tried out for the Boston Red Sox. He owned a funny car Summer Street Madness and competed all over many states in drag racing events, which was a huge part of his life. He did plumbing his entire life, with some time working in the Massachusetts State Court system and would constantly point out on long drives “ I plumbed that shopping mall”. Rick spent time coaching the St. Bernard’s girls’ softball team, which he was so incredibly happy doing, and talked about that time frequently reminiscing. Rick enjoyed long rides on his Harley and attended many concerts over the years with Joanne.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Joanne E. (St Cyr) Rivard , his daughter Kristine Van Westen of Superior, Nebraska, his sisters, Michelle A. Rivard and Lisa M. Riffle both of Mesa, Arizona; step-daughter, Jennifer Doughty of Fitchburg; grandchildren, Kylee and James Van Westen; Kyle Fisher; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Karen Williams in 2011 and his brother-in-law, Michael Steinbring.

Services for Rick will be held on Tuesday, November 22,2022 with a Mass @ 11a.m. in St. Bernard Parish @ St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St. Fitchburg, MA  . Calling hours will be on Monday Evening at the funeral home from 5 until 7p.m.  . The Lavery Chartrand Alario Funeral Home 99 Summer St. is directing. Michael S. Alario  -Director – Owner.
