Fitchburg :  Rita Lillian Bevan (Powell) 75 of Fitchburg, MA passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, October 20,2021.

Rita was born May 1, 1946 in Fitchburg ,MA , the daughter of Robert R. Powell Sr. and Juliette M. (Lemieux) Powell and lived all of her life in Fitchburg, MA.

She worked as a welder for the Former Simonds  Saw & Steel Co. in Fitchburg, MA and retired from there several years ago. She had been a member of St. Bernard’s Church.

Rita was a very kind hearted person, easy to talk to and would help anyone in need. She was a member of the Eastwood Club in Fitchburg, MA , enjoyed  her trips to Foxwoods with Dave and traveling with him throughout the country.

She is survived by her partner of the last 15 years, Dave Laaksonen who dearly loved her, her brother  Robert R. Powell Jr. of Casa Grande, AZ , sisters, Sally Tietgens of Leominster, MA and Lillian Powell of Lancaster, MA., and her nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Bevan and her sister Barbara J. Powell-Lincoln

A funeral service for Rita will be held on Sunday October 24,2021 @ 11a.m. in The Lavery Chartrand Alario Funeral Home 99 Summer St. Fitchburg, MA. A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. All are welcome to attend. Burial will be at a later date.
