Robert Francis Bedard

Robert Francis Bedard, 86, of Ashby, MA died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on January 15, 2026.

Robert was born in Fitchburg, MA on October 9, 1939, to Wilfred Joseph Bedard and Rose Alma (Coulumbe) Bedard and was a long-time resident of Ashby, MA.

He leaves behind his wife of 61 years Anna Mae (Lashua) Bedard of Ashby, MA; two daughters, Claire Ellen Gauthier of New Ipswich, NH and Rose Natalie Reynolds and her husband, Rodney, of Kingston, NH; four grandchildren, Robert, Nicholas, Samuel and Shaina; two great grandchildren, Evelyn and Ottelien; a sister Phyllis Ricci of Londonderry, NH along with many nieces and nephews.

Robert graduated from Ashby High School in 1957 and shortly thereafter entered the remodeling industry where he worked in that field his entire life. In 1968 he started the Robert F. Bedard Roofing and Remodeling Company and ran it until his retirement.

Robert was a past member of the Ashby Fire Department and served on several town committees.

His love of the outdoors lasted his entire life, and he was an avid outdoorsman that included hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. He was the past president, and lifetime member, of the Fitchburg Rod and Gun Club, the National Rifle Association, Ashby Land Trust, and many more outdoor and trade associations.

In accordance with Robert’s wishes, there will be no calling hours, and funeral services will be private. Donations in Robert’s name can be made to: Fitchburg Rod and Gun Club, 985 Richardson Road, Ashby, MA 0143

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Saturday, February 28,2026 at The American Legion Post 361, 35 New Ipswich Road from 12 until 5 p.m.
