                                              Obituary Notice

Fitchburg:  Robert J. Deschenes, 94 of Fitchburg, MA passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Tuesday, March 21 at the Highlands.

He is survived by his wife  of 69 years Josephine (DiNatale) Deschenes, a son, Robert J. Deschenes Jr., daughters, Joyce Deschenes, Beth Webster and her husband Dean and Patricia Meza and her husband Mickey, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law,Elena Viola.

He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Rose (Buteau) Deschenes, a brother Roland Deschenes and his wife Helen, a sister, Barbara (Deschenes) Little, sisters-in-law, Angelina married to Alexander “Shad” Nano, Concetta Married to Samuel Imprescia, Sadie married to Rocco Perla, and brother-in-law, Frank Viola.

Bob was raised in Fitchburg and lived here all of his life . In February of 1946 he enlisted in the U.S.Navy and served aboard the USS Duluth and USS Astoria during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1947.

Bob worked as a mechanic at the former F & L Transportation (now Mart) for many years before his retirement.

Calling hours for Bob will be held on Thursday, March 30,2023  from 10 until 12 noon  at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Winchendon, MA  . All friends and relatives are welcome to attend.
