FITCHBURG - Roger S. Reiss, 87, died in Boston on Thursday, May 13, 2021.
He leaves his former wife, Jacqueline B. Reiss from Fitchburg. He also leaves three children from a first marriage, to the late Judith R. Reiss. They are Russel M. Reiss and his wife, Angela, from CA, Randel B. Reiss from OR, and Ronde G. Albert, and Husband, Douglas, from MA; two brothers, Earl from NY, Daniel from CA, and Sister Harriet from NY; three Grandchildren, Connor & Kyle Reiss from OR, and Benjamin Albert from MA; one Great Grandchild, Samuel from MA.
Roger was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 23, 1933, a son of the late Irving Reiss and Etta (Gray)Reiss. Roger graduated from MIT in 1955 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Roger was very passionate about his work and being able to assist others, whether it was current projects, or passing information along to help or encourage others. He was always thinking ahead on what else he could contribute.
Upon retiring, Roger joined a couple of engineering organizations including Optics and photonics. He wrote and submitted articles for their perspective groups. He eventually began his own group in Linked-In, “Photonic Instruments”. He had many members and they enjoyed his monthly write-ups. He found great joy with interacting with them and answering their questions.
Roger personally enjoyed trips to antique and consignment shops, always looking for that one unusual item to take home with him. He loved the quiet times on the patio and family gatherings to share stories and just have a good time. Roger would always recollect things that happened in the past and share that story with them.
Yes, Roger will be missed by many friends and family
