Roger Winchester passed peacefully surrounded by his family on November 24, 2025. He was born on November 26, 1941 and was a lifelong resident of Lunenburg.
Roger was a retired police officer as well as a retired highway assistant superintendent, both for the Town of Lunenburg. Roger was also self-employed making and selling shipping crates for a local company. He recently worked as a school bus driver and a bus monitor for children with special needs. He also had many side hustles including selling popcorn and hot dogs at local band concerts, parades and motorcycle races, as well as installing driveways.
Roger was a past master of Wilder Masonic Lodge in Leominster and St. Paul Lodge in Gardner. He was past Grand Master and District Deputy of Fitchburg 13. He was the recipient of the Joseph Warren Medal.
What made Roger truly happy was his family. He was married to Merri-Ann (Lusco) for nearly 65 years. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Karen Roberts, Lori-Ann Winchester and Jennifer Winchester. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephew, countless friends, including friends of Bill.
Roger’s favorite holiday, by far, was Christmas. Throughout his life, he and his family welcomed numerous friends and acquaintances to join in their celebrations. His motto was “When you have more than you need, build a longer table, not a higher fence.”
Roger was predeceased by his mother and father, Norma (Withington) and Sherwood Winchester and his brother Norman Winchester and his infant son, Roger E. Winchester Jr.
Funeral services under the direction of Stephen Moorcroft will be held Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11am in the Lavery, Chartrand, Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St Fitchburg. Burial will follow in North Cemetery Lunenburg. Calling hours will be held on Sunday November 30, 2025 from 3 until 6pm in the funeral home. A Masonic
