Gardner:  Ruth A. Deshayes 60 of Gardner MA passed away peacefully  January 1,2021 in Heywood Hospital , Gardner,MA with her family at her side.

Ruth was born on January 2,1960 in Leominster, MA daughter of  Henry P. Deshayes and Anna (Pirro) Deshayes. At age 12 Ruth became the step-daughter of Agnes M. (Pelletier) Deshayes also.

 Ruth was  born with Down’s Syndrome and attended the limited schooling that was available. At the age of 15 she started attending the ARC of Opportunity in Fitchburg. She worked there until she finally had to start attending as a Day Hab resident which ended last year.

Throughout her life Ruth had many caring and loving “Caregivers’ to guide her. She enjoyed music, dancing, and traveling, including a trip to Hawaii, Disneyworld, and even went on a few cruises. She loved her holiday visits with her family as well. Ruth has lived the last six years at the “Lifeskills” home in Gardener where she was lovingly taken care of .

Her family would like to thank the many people who helped her every day to get through her wonderful life. She will be missed greatly by the family she leaves behind, brothers’ and sister’s: Roger and wife Judy Pelletier of Clarksdale, MO, Theresa and husband Charles Pelletier of Danville, VT, Thomas and wife Susanne Pelletier of Ashburnham, MA, Marie Mortagua  &(Bruce Morin) of New Bedford, MA , Lois and husband Frank Gyles of Fitchburg, MA , one niece, five nephews, eight  great nephews, and one great niece, two aunts, one uncle, and many cousins.

Services for Ruth will be held later this spring and will be announced  at that time. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to : special Olympics- Massachusetts, 512 Forest St. , Marlborough, MA 01752
