Obituary
Fitchburg: Salvatore “Sal” Dominic Ciuffetti, age 75 passed away on January 7,2022, concluding a progressively worsening struggle with Parkinson’s Disease and congestive heart failure. A lifelong Fitchburg resident (minus 3 years in Florida) . He was born July 26, 1946 to Mario and Josephine (Infantino) Ciuffetti.
He leave behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Sylvia “Syl” (Romano)Ciuffetti, daughters Gina Taylor married to Ryan Taylor of Fitchburg, and Alaina Henault married to Tim Henault of Haverhill, grandchildren Evan, Andrew, and Ella , as well as his eldest brother Mario Jr. of Florida, countless cousins, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Ciuffetti.
Known as partner, Dad, Grandpa, mentor, friend, actor, producer, and coach, he was a 1965 graduate of St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School and Fitchburg State College (now University). A mechanical engineer for over 5o years, Sal took pride in the many awards he received for his designs in the fields of medicine, optical equipment, and switches for industry and the military.
An active member of the community, he was a founding member and the first president of the New Players Theatre Guild, holding the title of Producer as well as actor for many of their shows. A basketball coach for many schools , church leagues, and AAU, Sal was a basketball referee for many years and served on the IAABO board, as well as running the CYO Basketball Tournament for many years. He also was the Athletic Director for the Diocese of Worcester.
His family wishes to thank Dr. Dionyssios Robotis, the team from Better Care Home Health, and the staff at The Highlands for the personal care they gave to Sal.
At this time there are no planned services or calling hours. A celebration of Sal’s life will be announced later in the spring.
