Susan Bourque Obituary

Susan was born and raised in Fitchburg. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High's class of 1969, and a 1971 graduate of Becker College in Worcester. Later making homes in Lunenburg where they raised a family, then Gnadenhutten Ohio, Athol Ma, Bennington Vt, and most recently Templeton Ma.

Susan was happily married to the love of her life, James Bourque for 51 wonderful years. She had 2 children, Jacquelyn and Eric and 3 grandchildren Kayla Bourque and Mollie and Finn McGee whom she absolutely adored. Her family was the most important thing to her.

Susan was such a loving, giving and Thoughtful person. She was Always caring for others before herself. Whether it was with her jobs providing help for those with special needs, the 10 years she was a hospice volunteer, helping out with the Special Olympics organization, braiding a rug as a special gift, marking occasions with thoughtful cards, performing Reiki treatments for comfort and relief of pain she was Always thinking of those she loved. All of her friends, children's friends, and grandchildren's friends knew their home was Always open to them for any meal and she would be cheering them on from any sideline.

Susan loved nothing more than her family and watching Mollie and Finn grow up. She looked forward to being at every sporting event, performance and activity. She never missed one {if there were 3 shows she'd be at all 3} until her illness prevented her from attending. Even then she looked forward to the pictures, videos, phone calls to recap and catch up on the event. One look at her refrigerator and you could see how proud she was as she would print out the pictures and display them for all to see.

She loved day trips with her husband to the beach, casino or just exploring but her favorite place to be was at "The Camp" in Templeton where she spent summers. She loved having family and friends over to enjoy time with her swimming, fishing or just floating in the lake. She always made everyone feel important, loved and Welcome.

Susan fought a hard fight for three years with cancer. She was extremely private about her battle and let very few people know how sick she was. She did greatly appreciate the support, cards, prayers, and emails she received full of encouragement and the meals her daughter Jacqui and Son  in  law Scott brought over. She truly appreciated and Loved her friends so very much.

She fought so hard but in the end her body couldn't quite keep up with her spirit. She is now at Peace with her son Eric.

We know she would want to send a special Thank You to all of the nurses at Care Central VNA and Hospice and Wendy and the staff in the Oncology department at Heywood Hospital. They were all so helpful and caring towards her. She greatly appreciated all of them so much.
