OBITUARY FOR SUSAN M. VAILLETTE

Susan M. Vaillette died at her home in Millbury, MA on the evening of April 16, 2025 at the age of 70.  Sue was born on July 24, 1954 in Ayer, MA as the oldest child of Francis and Lila (Cote) Gariepy. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Eugene Vaillette; her two daughters, Lucille Ann Hernandez  and her husband Juan Carlos Lemus of Millbury and Trisha M. Greenhalge and her husband Shawn Greenhalge of Jaffrey, NH; three granddaughters, Linnea Rose Greenhalge, Lila Marissa Hernandez and Isabella Marie Lemus Hernandez; and two brothers, Paul F. Gariepy of Cummington, MA and Richard H. Gariepy of Lakeville, MN.  Sue was preceded in death by her parents and her younger sister, Diane L. Gariepy.

Susan graduated from St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School in Fitchburg, MA in 1972.  Always proficient in mathematics, she worked as a bookkeeper for many different companies over the years.  She also spent many years home-schooling her two daughters.  Sue was known to all as caring, loving, nurturing, busy, determined and confident.

Sue was active in all her daughter’s activities – girl scouts, dance mom, and church events.  She loved directing the home-school plays each year, and watching the group perform.  She also taught many years of CCD classes at Holy Family Church in Leominster, MA and she loved being a Eucharistic Minister.  She was a devoted grandmother (memere) and loved her granddaughters unconditionally.  She looked forward to each visit and time spent with them.

Sue was a devout Catholic and was very active in parish work.  She read the Bible daily and studied it religiously.  She was kind to everyone.  Sue loved to read, travel, play cards and work on the computer, but her first loves were her faith, her family, her friends and her country.  She had a good life, but it ended far too soon. She will be sorely missed.
