Sylvia Norine (Fargo) Knowlton

Sylvia Norine (Fargo) Knowlton, age 74, of Gardner, MA passed away Monday morning January 27, 2025. She was born May 25,1950 in Gill, MA to Wayland and Barbara (Jackson) Fargo as the eldest of 3 siblings.  

Sylvia graduated from Turners Falls High School and then continued onto Springfield Community College where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1970. She married her husband Phillip Knowlton in 1970, and they had 3 children, Christopher, Jeffrey and Michelle. Together they ran the Bonanza Family Restaurant for many years before she moved on to Corning Costar where she worked in Finance until retiring.

She loved supporting her children whether it be at the hockey or figure skating rink and was a common fixture at the hockey games running the time clock or cheering on the figure skating teams. Sylvia also loved being creative and made some beautiful quilts as well as scrap booking and greeting cards.  

Preceded in death by her husband Phillip Knowlton, father Wayland Fargo, and brother Mark Fargo.

Sylvia is survived by her Mother Barbara Fargo, Sister Judy Gaines, Sister Linda Gillon, Son Christopher Knowlton andwife Jenifer, Jeff Knowlton and wife Renee, Daughter Michelle Helms and husband Robert. 6 grandchildren Chelsea Janssens, Drew Richard, Alex Knowlton, Hayley Richard, Sean Knowlton, Brooke Knowlton. 4 great-grandchildren Kimberly, Leah, Caiden and Liam, as well as many other family members and friends who will greatly miss her.

Calling hours will be held from 5 – 7 pm, Monday, February 3,2025 at Lavery Chartrand  Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St. in Fitchburg. Final burial will be at a later date.
