Theresa M. (Jenness) Radford, ninety-nine of Fitchburg, MA went home to the Lord on April 1,2026. She was weeks short of attaining her goal reaching her 100th birthday. She was born in Fitchburg, MA on May 22, 1926, the daughter of Guy and Florida (LaFleur) Jenness. She was raised in Fitchburg and was a graduate of St. Bernard Central Catholic High School class of 1944 and later attended Framingham St. College. As a result of both of her parents dying by the time she was a teen, an aunt raised her. This, along with the fact she grew up during the depression and through WWII, resulted in her becoming a strong and independent woman. She worked from the time she was a teen and had many jobs in her early years, including being a riveter during WWII and working for the telephone company. After marrying she focused her energies on raising her four daughters, including being a brownie and then girl scout leader. She also worked at Tom’s Food World for a number of years before moving to Framingham.
While in Framingham she was the Activities Director for Kathleen Daniels Nursing Home in Framingham, MA before her retirement in 1984. She also served in Pastoral Ministries at Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, MA, and was past president of The Eagles Auxiliary #874 in Framingham, MA. She also lived in Hudson moving back to Fitchburg in 2011.
Having accomplished many things in her lifetime, she felt her most important accomplishment was raising her four daughters. Although they lived in various parts of the country, she was in contact with them on a daily basis and took great joy in hearing about their lives and the activities of her grandchildren.
Theresa was gifted with the ability to lend an ear whenever a person needed to talk. She felt that was why God kept her so long on this earth.
She is survived by her daughters’ Ellen M. Amblo and her husband John, and Donna J. Hay and her husband Scott, six grandchildren, Keith Hay, Timothy Hay, Jennifer Amblo, James Amblo, Stacy Scarale and Jason Scarale , 10 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Isabella, Nicholas, Sonya, Isaac, Anna, Sophia, Brayden, Odessa and Gavin along with many nieces and nephews and her” second family “ at the Sundial.
She was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen A Scarale and her husband Ron, her daughter Debra L Fitzgerald, and her brothers Robert Jenness, Fr. Roy Jenness, Francis Jenness, and her sisters, Patricia A. Leger, and Lorraine Marcoux. She was also predeceased by her former husband and life-long friend William Radford
Theresa’s family would like to thank the staff at The Highlands for their love, compassion, and excellent care. Our mother was treated like a precious grandmother. Words are not enough to express our gratitude.
A funeral Mass for Theresa will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, with a Mass in St. Joseph’s Church 49 Woodland St. Fitchburg, MA @ 11a.m.. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
